The East Knox Bulldogs lost to the Fredericktown Freddies 57-49 in a boys varsity basketball conference game.
The matchup was played Feb. 13 at East Knox High School.
East Knox fell to Fredericktown despite shooting slightly better from the field. The Bulldogs hit 42 percent from the field and 38 percent from three, while the Freddies managed 40 percent overall and 31 percent from deep.
The teams were even on the boards with 29 rebounds apiece, but Fredericktown’s defense swung the game. The Freddies forced turnovers with nine steals compared to East Knox’s lone swipe. They also converted 59 percent at the free-throw line, edging East Knox’s 53 percent.
East Knox finished with nine assists to Fredericktown’s seven, showing flashes of ball movement, but the Bulldogs couldn’t overcome the possession battle. Despite efficient shooting, the miscues and defensive pressure proved costly as Fredericktown closed strong to secure the win.
Up next, the East Knox Bulldogs host Northridge in a boys varsity non‑conference game Saturday, Feb. 21 at 3 p.m.
The teams last met Jan. 17, 2020, when East Knox won a road non‑conference matchup at Northridge 51-44.
