The East Knox Bulldogs were defeated by the Mt. Gilead Indians 48–40 in a boys varsity basketball conference game.
The game took place on January 30 at East Knox High School.
According to reports, despite balanced effort and steady execution, East Knox was outscored down the stretch as Mt. Gilead secured the eight-point win. They started strong on Friday night, staying close as Mt. Gilead led with a 13–10 first quarter. The Bulldogs responded with another 10 points in the second quarter, matching the Indians’ pace and keeping the game competitive at halftime. After the break, East Knox scored 11 points in the third quarter; however, Mt. Gilead countered with 14 points to gain some separation. In the fourth quarter, East Knox added nine more points but could not overcome Mt. Gilead’s consistent scoring.
Throughout the night, East Knox attacked the lane and fought for second-chance opportunities while maintaining an aggressive defensive stance. Although they did not achieve their desired result, the Bulldogs demonstrated resilience in this challenging conference matchup. This loss adds to a series of tough conference games for East Knox at home.
Looking ahead, East Knox will travel to face Cardington-Lincoln in another conference matchup on February 3.
The two teams last met exactly one month ago when Cardington-Lincoln defeated East Knox 74–68 on their home court.
